"I came to show off"

Insect count: lots of big ones I ignored at the Deaf school ~ they are out in the hills and surrounded by orchards so they get a lot of big bugs! Eep! Plus the little flying bugs (like fruit flies but I don't have any fruit sitting out so I don't know from where they came) that I can't seem to get rid of

T5B: 1) I got to see my Deaf students and the faculty at CS! 2) I was able to reply to all my emails and messages on the bus so I feel more settled and caught up in general. 3) I signed a complete sentence (technically a question) on my own in JSL! :D 4) I helped my junior high boys feel validated as I knew about the things they loved. 5) I finished my work early at the school so I had lots of time to plan and get caught up on school things.

Basal temp: 36.64 ~ I'm not sure if this is a good or bad sign. I also am not sure how accurate it is. I was awake a while before my alarm went off. :/ I was assuming I still had time to sleep, but I didn't. Guess we'll see when I take my temp tomorrow.

Last night I definitely slept better. I woke up only a couple times and though I woke up early, and my eyes felt welded shut, I was ok with getting up. Sort of resigned. And that's good as Friday mornings are my earliest mornings of the week. (My Friday bus comes 26 minutes earlier than my Mon-Thurs one does.) In any case, I left in a little bit of a hurry, but I was ok. I accidentally forgot something but it was a nuisance rather than a day-breaker. I got to the bus with a minute or two to spare, and it was suzushi (cool) out so mmm!

The bus ride is when I got caught up with all my emails. I had a couple emails that I had needed time to process. So it feels nice to be caught up. When I got off the bus, it was still cool out but the hike up to the school reminded me of the humidity. I made Kawai-s and another teacher laugh when I said, "Mushi suzushi!" I believe mushi means, from how I've heard it used, humid or wet or muggy. They will say, "Mushi atsui!" Atsui is hot... So ya. :D They laughed but didn't tell me I was wrong, so as far as I know it worked and they laughed at my triumphant face since I had come up with it on my own. ~ Also maybe the fact that it seems like a contradiction but isn't in Japan! Moist cool/humid cool. Yep. After that, I had forgotten how to sign summer (natsu) so I signed the spelling for it ~ the kana signs that is (na - tsu) and asked all in JSL how to sign summer! :D YEEHAW!!! After that I worked on correcting summer journals. Only a very were very difficult for me. They had the Japanese to one side so yay, but I could only read some of it. :/ Still, I was able to correct them with minimal help. Then I realized, with a start, that I was working on something I could do later when I had things to had to prepare for my lesson! I had a mini panic attack but it turned out I still had 20 minutes to work on things. -- Actually the panic came from thinking I was teaching third period and finding out I was teaching second. I freaked because I thought maybe I was in the process of missing class - but as it turned out, I had written down the correct time so I was ok. (Really if I had though about it logically I would have figured it out. 945 is WAY too early for third period when school starts at 850.) The important thing is that I got ready, finished correcting the journals and was a few minutes early to the junior high teacher's room. (:D I am learning so much JSL!)

My js lesson went really well. I had two boys and we were learning and practicing have, want, and play. I brought along pictures of a troll, a dragon, a monster, a lizard, a dog, and a cat. :) They were lots of fun. I made them feel validated as the teacher would turn to me and say, "Gangdam?" "Oh Gundam!" *writes it on the board. Then one boy said he had some sort of handheld gaming device. "It's either..." then I wrote, "Nintendo DS / PSP." He has a PSP. Then I was asked about Nerf - great day for me too! Oh - and the boy who had a PSP. I figured out he was saying he liked Bioshock so I wrote that up. :) It made me feel good that I was able to relate to them. :) I got to teach the JTE (Hashiba-s) about Nerf guns as well.

After that I stopped back by the js teachers' office and chatted with them for a bit and learned a couple new words. Oh man they spoil me down there - they make me feel like I'm the funniest, most important person to talk to ever! :D After that I went back to the high school room and talked to different teachers and administration and showed them pictures and video from my vacation and Sansa. Then I got some more planning done.

Eventually the time came for me to jet so I said my goodbyes and walked to the bus. As I was leaving the school, I got some video (for the audio) of the monsters around my school - lemme see if it will upload to here...

I got that after I had crossed the parking lot. So that is the road leading down (eventually) to the main road where I catch my bus. :) I should do some short walking tours of Morioka. (Thinking aloud.) As soon as I got off the bus, off I was to run errands. I had a TON to do, and I just wanted to get home to the dehumidifier, but I persevered! I went to the bank to pay my tithing, then I got money out of my account for my taxes and groceries. Then I checked the Daiso for something (no luck). I went by the bakery for something I had been craving yesterday but lacked the cash. Then I went down and paid my city taxes (those poor guys! I tried my hardest but I just didn't know what they were saying to me ~ but my taxes are paid up til the end of next month), then I went and grabbed a bus pass for next week as my cards will run out Wed/Thurs and it's just easier to run all my errands at once. All of that took me about 45 minutes. I can't believe I finished so quickly! And I was walking around the city - with my laptop in my purse and my indoor shoes in a bag. So I was very hot and tired by the time I got home. Still I managed to get home before I usually do. I love that I get home early on Fridays! -- One thing I forgot to mention - on the way to City Hall, I saw this guy fishing in the river. His fishing pole was SO LONG! I hope it shows in the picture:

Sorry it's hard to see the pole against the water - but it goes from him to the other bank in this picture ~ actual scale about half the length of the river. Seriously.
It was at least TWICE the length of other fishing poles I've seen. That's why I had to get a picture! After I got home, I got to msg my BFF, give Donut a snack (I told my boys about Donut - lol they were like, "Really!?"), eat some dinner, finish Code Geass, try to rest my migraine (ow, ow, ow), eat some popcorn, and get some work done. I had planned on doing laundry but I am going to wait for tomorrow morning so I can shower and then throw these garments I'm wearing in. (I still have two pairs of clean garments but I need to wash my work shirts - I decided it's not a tragedy if I have to wash more often in the summer. I would rather put on shirts in which I have not yet sweated.) So off to bed I go (stayed up later than I wanted but get to sleep in a little tomorrow). I'm excited because I have a lunch with Yasue, the sister missionaries, Fumie-shimai, and Shinoki-shimai planned tomorrow afternoon! YATTA! Take THAT loneliness! Sending you all love! XOXO, A
