T5B: 1) The class I was dreading today went SUPER well. 2) I got a great email from my dad. 3) I had a funny (in retrospect) dream. 4) I may have an easy day tomorrow (I heard half of my classes are cancelled - I'll find out for sure tomorrow). 5) I got to message Jerod.
basal temp: 36.61
Yesterday: I forgot to mention, when I walked into 2.4, a group of girls cheered. They said, "Ann! YAY!" After that mean class, it was the EXACT thing I needed!
Morning:
- vivid weird dreams, woke up A TON, but better sleep all the same
- the bus ride needs to be longer, I was seriously stressed when I arrived
- I asked the front office about my bus card, nope, wasn't at my desk either :/
1st, 2nd - prepped and planned a lesson for Friday
3rd - I dreaded it, but it went AWESOME (2.6)
4th - more prep, corrected wksts
Notes: So my dream, I dreamed that I was visiting Argentina while I was here in Japan. How did I get there? I took a bus. Yep. In my dream we went south and then had to go under the ocean briefly (like Lincoln Tunnel briefly). It was a stressful dream though. In my dream I fell asleep on the bus and I wasn't sure if I had missed Acevedo or not. I wanted to visit my Argentine family (the Alfonsos), but I couldn't remember how to get to their place. :/ LOL still, in my dreams it's possible to take an 8 hour bus from Morioka to Argentina. (I believe the overnight bus to Tokyo is 8 hours -- so ya we wouldn't even clear Japan!)
Afternoon:
- lunch
5th - taught, went very well (1.2)
6th - taught, also went very well (1.3)
7th - corrected wksts
- helped with cleaning time
- bus ride home
Notes: So in 5th period, one boy didn't have a partner for the Read and Run. I motioned to him that I would work with him. The other times I've worked with students, they've rolled their eyes (other than that audience I had last week) and acted like, "Oh man, how embarrassing!" It doesn't bother me. But this kid, he yells, "YES!" And starts bragging to those sitting around him. Aww! Now THAT'S what I like to hear! (And man he was right - I made a show of reading the sentences but I wrote them -- I've got them memorized!) Also during that class, Suzuki-s (m) sort of fell into the door. The kids all laughed (they LOVE him - he's awesome), and I said, "Kiotsukete!" And then they laughed again. :D (Be careful.) I said it so nonchalantly and then turned back to the board so I think I surprised them. :)
Evening:
- got to message Jerod
- ate some dinner
- watched a little Gintama
- went to teach an English class at Zenrinkan ($18! - I accidentally went way over time :/)
- pedaled home quickly to write this and get ready for bed
Notes: I've been feeling rushed all week. I told Jerod yesterday that I felt cornered. On Monday I literally ran out of time to prepare for a class and had to go without some materials. I, obviously, made due, but I feel like I'm in a race and I'm laps behind everyone. It's not a great feeling. I'm trying to change it and I shouldn't be feeling it! I've got the worksheets for next week (even the two I made for the first graders since I asked permission if I could make an easier worksheet for a struggling class). I even have Monday off (hallelujah). Also though I'm not completely prepared for Friday, I have a plan and I'm about halfway there. I just ... I don't know. I'm feeling overwhelmed. Ah - (writing is a cathartic and revelatory process for me) Teresa is very ill (worse than I thought initially). That has been hard for me which makes me even more worried about Jerod. I wish I could do more than pray for him and talk to him online. :/ It's the best I can do from where I am. I hope you are all doing well and my prayers are with you as well (especially you too Dre - love you!). XOXO, A
