One story I forgot from last week that's kind of funny. Japanese students will copy each other (they have a group mentality) so sometimes having teams backfires. For example, last week I told them to write words that started with the letters A-G. One student wrote "appel" and it spread. LOL It stopped in the middle of the board with "apple." You should have seen the student who was between those rows. They looked at both spellings and then went with "appel." HAHAHAHA I then snuck up to the front and told those students, "'appel' ha chigau." "Chigau!?" LOL (Wrong, different) Then they were able to correct themselves. Still that face looking back and forth, cracked me up.
Morning:
- I slept much better (still was tired, but still!)
- accidentally burned my breakfast a little :/ oops
- I was invited to go to a cooking school tomorrow to make a dish! :D (gladly accepted)
1st-3rd - planning, I received omiyage (presents) from Kyoto! (From Haruna-sensei, Saki-sensei, and M [a student])
4th - taught 3.7, went ok (they were spacey today :/)
Notes: Today was like teaching zombies! I had three games and they just weren't really into them. :/ Try again next week... (I took pictures of the omiyage.)
Afternoon:
- lunch was good
- ate my leaf cookie, DELICIOUS
- afternoon classes were cancelled for SEPs so I planned and spaced and then studied Japanese
Notes: --
Evening:
- got home, made eggs and sausage for dinner
- went to tutoring
- got to message Jerod
- EXHAUSTED
Notes: So, I made sure with my tutor.. lemme back up. So I show up to a school with around 60 teachers, then there's staff, and 706 students. NOT ONE PERSON noticed that I cut 11-12" off my hair. I got to thinking, maybe it's a faux pas to notice and say something about a hair cut. My tutor noticed and said something, then I asked her about faux pas - nope. I just work with and teach the most unobservant people in Japan! LOL Wow! Hope you had a good weekend! XOXO, A
Omiyage from Haruna-sensei - SOOOOO good! |
Omiyage from Saki-sensei (mochi with anko [sweet bean paste] inside) - delicious - the official name starts with "ya.." can't remember it though.... |
This is the omiyage I got from M - the green thing was green cake (good), the pink one a rice crispy (kinda) chocolate heart (decent) and the green packet.... |
This beautiful purse! :D I feel so loved! And I'm so glad she thought of me and got it for me :) |
Wow! Such nice gifts! I sure love you. (And I noticed your hair cut.)
ReplyDeleteYa! My maman noticed! And she's an ocean and a few states away!!!
