Today I woke up an hour before my alarm went off even though I fell asleep late and couldn't get back to sleep. I had REALLY freaky dreams (maybe why my brain wouldn't risk shutting back down again). I got up, got ready in plenty of time and got out the door to church. I was set to be about 20 minutes early then I saw my RS president on the street some 4-5 blocks away from church. She is very intimidating to me, and I considered just pedaling past her, but I got off my bike and walked with her the rest of the way. She's very nice... but she just scares me. I'm not sure why. After we got to church, I spent the last ten minutes cooling myself down before church started. Elder Iida spoke today in Sacrament meeting and made everyone laugh when he told them they could cook rice in a rice cooker. :) He was making an analogy that I didn't understand as his companion was laughing too hard to translate and then sort of skipped ahead. (He tried to explain it, but couldn't remember.) Then he uttered this line I teased him about the rest of the meeting. "And then do some stuff." I looked at him and said, "Stuff?!" He started apologizing and saying he didn't know how to translate what the speaker was saying but it cracked me up. "Thanks for the specifics elder. You just do some stuff and bing! Straight to heaven!" LOL
After that meeting there was a tense meeting between the RS, poor Elder Norawong (who was acting as translator) and me. The arrangement we made last week suddenly was completely changed and I was stressed out (I don't care for change in general but I REALLY don't care for last minute changes.). Then it became a whole, "Guess you don't love me!" thing and I was feeling extremely stressed and frankly manipulated. However, it all worked out in the end. After the "conversation," I went to RS and our lesson was on tithing. I'm ashamed to say I was too worked up to get much out of the lesson. :( I did remember one story of tithing though. My parents taught me to pay tithing when I was young and I have other stories of the miracles and blessings I have received but this is the one that came to mind today: As I was preparing for my mission, I was told I needed x amount of dollars. I was working 3 jobs to make the money so I wouldn't leave a burden on my parents when I left. Well as the time was drawing near for me to leave, I was still a little short (and I had quit my jobs as I was about to enter the MTC). I thought, "Well, at least I made most of it!" (And in reality I was around $50 short.) Then suddenly and unexpectedly I got two sweet cards from ward members with a little bit of money to put toward my mission. The two separate gifts added up to be the EXACT dollar amount that I needed. I testify that the promise in Malachi is true!
After the whole debacle, I caved and we went straight to our visiting teachee's house. She wasn't home though. :( We left her some notes and I left an onion from Mai's garden. :) On the way back to church, I was given sunglasses. :) They're pretty nice. Not my style, but everyone was saying that I look awesome in them. Then I was asked about wedding pictures (since I had mentioned when we were talking about colors that my wedding colors were red and black). I showed Fumie-shimai and Shinoki-shimai some photos and they LOVED them. (Abbey you do great work!) They kept saying we (Jerod and I) looked like movie stars. Then it became, "Angelina Jolie!" I don't see it, but they say I look like her. As she is considered a great beauty of our day, I say to them, "Thank you! You're very sweet."
Then I was finally able to skype my mom and Nod. I had a great time talking to them. Nadia told me a funny story about Ava and port-a-potties. :) (Nod! Will you type it up and email it to me and I will post it?) Nod was making faces and I tried to get a picture of them - but she changed too quickly. Also I took pictures so you could see my new sunglasses.
The forecast for the rest of the week is AWESOME right now. I hope it doesn't change! Last week the highs for this week were 27 (that was today), but now they're listed as 24!! YAHOO! As soon as I got home from church I took a cool shower because I was overheated. I then cooked some lunch and planned to do my dishes later but couldn't stand them being in the sink any longer so I did them. :) Feels good to have a clean kitchen again. I also straightened up as Fumie-shimai was going to drop by. She came by as I was making some gyouza and dropped off 3 futons with 3 pillows for the McDonald sisters. :) I asked Abbey in an email to please bring some sort of American treat I can give to her as thanks. In the meantime, I had made a purple (DAH! I just NOW realized: BARNEY!) origami dinosaur. LOL I didn't mean it to be Barney. And I doubt she knows about him anyway. Lucky woman. ;) ~ Oh also before I left the church the elders helped me pump up (ok they did it and I watched) my bike tires as they were feeling low/flattish. I'm so grateful to them. They're such great young men! Elder Norawong says that he's pretty sure Elder Iida will be transferred during the next transfers. Aww :( I will miss him! He's a riot. :)
I ate my gyouza after Fumie-shimai left and she left quickly which made me feel really badly. Here she's doing me this huge favor and I can't even chat with her for a few minutes. :( I hope she knows how much I REALLY appreciate and love her! I ate, msged, did a little reading and mostly just tried to keep cool. I'm exhausted and hoping to sleep very well tonight. The only thing on my roster for tomorrow that HAS to be done is a meeting at Aiina (to meet my tutor). That is at 1800. I hope you all have a wonderful Sabbath! XOXO, A
