Notes: Today has been cold and it's only getting colder! :/ Dane it! It's also been full of anxiety for me. I've had several small panic attacks. I believe I will ask the elders for a blessing tomorrow. If I were back home, this would already be summer break! But the Japanese school year is year-round and I am feeling like I am a very thin thread about to fray or snap. :/ Ok, good part - funny story: So, last year (starting the year before that) I taught ASL [American Sign Language] at a charter school in Provo. I approached the subject the way I learned it - from a silent classroom. Of course, my teachers were all Deaf, but I too wanted to create an environment of Deaf space and decided I would never speak. I still made sure to tell my students that I was hearing but that I wanted to create Deaf space. One especially oblivious (read: inattentive) junior high schooler missed when I told everyone I was hearing. The next class period, as I was teaching he started talking. I turned around, as my back had been to him before, gave him the eye, then kept teaching. A few minutes later he was at it again (when my back was turned once more). So I turned and gave him the eye and signed for him to stop talking. This time when I turned back away (I believe I was writing something on the board) he whispered loudly, "How does she DO that!? She always knows when I'm talking!" LOL Thanks W, YMMD! Oh and I spoke to my classes on my last day there before I came to Japan. Have you ever seen every eye in the classroom pop out at once? I have! :D Have a great weekend! XOXO, A
Jerod sent me a picture today - he's so handsome! :D |
I can braid my hair!!! Barely... but still! |
Here is all the origami I did over the break - separated into classes (other than CS that is all together since I only have 28 students there). |
