Mwahahahaha!

I'll tell you why I named this post that... But first, some things from yesterday. So I didn't end up making it to the English class again - this time I have a legitimate reason though (lol)! I was serving! A coworker (Limor) called and asked me to help her brainstorm for the lessons she was teaching the next day. She's called the past few evenings but last night we talked for 2 hours! By the time I was off the phone, class had ended. So here's hoping for next week!

Also yesterday - Kanamori-先生 approached me and told me I should order a school shirt for their sports day (so I would match the other teachers). Can't remember if I told you this.. Anyway, she asked what size I wear. I told her American men's medium. One broad shouldered teacher says he wears 3L. Well he was a little more broad shouldered than me but I have a chest. So I wanted to go with 3L (I really dislike baggy shirts) but thought I shouldn't chance it just in case. So I told her, 4L. She says to me, "It only goes up to 5L." Uhh.. "Ok, 4L." "You can't have 6L. Do you want 5?" (The whole time I was holding up four fingers too! "No, no. I want 4L." Finally she got it and wrote it down. I wanted to throttle her... just a little. I'm bigger than you but I'm not a house woman! Then she tells me it will cost $35. Dah! However, found out some of that money goes towards a relief fund for those still affected by the earthquake. Mae me feel better about it. Also I will have a bright orange shirt that says "Morioka Minami" in kanji on it!

My lessons went well today. I've been running stressed all day though. I have so much to do! I got my SLPs really late so I had to plan for both schools today and taught 4 of the 6 periods AND have a mountain of grading... Ya didn't finish everything. I'm hoping at least half. Soooo many lessons to plan and so much to do! It's overwhelming and atm I feel like crying. Today was more stress than I'm currently built to absorb. Here's to hoping it doesn't rain so I can bike to the gym, and work some of this stress outta my system. That's the plan.

I made it! I started biking and got a whole one block away from my apartment before it started raining, but I was like, "Too late! I left!" And just rode in the sprinkling. It didn't get too heavy. I rode to the gym and by the time I got there my thighs were so tired! I did pyramids for most things but not for my legs! I had to ride home so I didn't work those TOO hard. I didn't ignore them, but I didn't do pyramids with them!

I have SO many lesson plans to do and so many worksheets to make. So working really helped me to calm down. I was pretty anxious when I got home so I'm feeling much better. I printed out some worksheets, finished this post and I've got some other things to finish up before bed. My best to you all! XOXO, A

Funny moments:

Finally I got to one of my classes! I am always joking and saying silly things and today I finally got a laugh out of my first years. YAY! I told them (when I was having them make alteregos) that I was 1700 years old. They all cracked up and it surprised and pleased me. Apparently being 1700 years old is what is funny to these kids!

(NOW the reason for the "Mwahahahaha") Today when my third graders were playing Fruit Basket only one kid picked the word "Lan." It was SO funny when someone finally said, "lan" and he stood up quickly to run to a new chair and was the only one. He yelled at the class in Japanese and they all cracked up. Then he kept getting called up. AHAHAHA! I only let it happen 3 times before I stopped the game but I practically fell over I was laughing so hard at this kid's outrage. This class was the most fun to watch. == Oh and I did it again. "We're going to play Fruit Basket!" -"Yes!" "With our pronunciation words!" -"Noooo! You tricked us!" AHAHA. I had a blast.

Oh and I got pictures of the bus today!

  1. Hey Annik, long time no write?! lol seems like you are having fun, and your students are having fun with a 1700 year old teacher!!! Oh~I really miss sports day in Japan! It was one of my favorite events! My husband wears a 6L in Japan, and he doesn't like being "BIG" - but only in Japan!! Do you remember Stephanie, the French teacher? Well, she is leaving Walden and today was her last day! Alex, the Arabic teacher is not coming back either.... seems like everybody is leaving.....
Are you going to go somewhere during summer break?? (Tonia from Walden -Japanese)

  2. Hi Tonia! I remember them! Why aren't they coming back!? If I had stayed in Utah I would have returned! I miss Walden like crazy! But I have many, many students here to fill my heart. :)

For summer break it depends if anyone is going to visit me. Friends have told me they'll come but then they haven't come back and told me when. If I don't have people coming I will go down to Sendai and also Osaka. I have friends in both places. :) you're welcome to visit by the way! And help me with Japanese too! Lol have a wonderful day and good to hear from you!

    1. Maybe it's an "outside of the US" kind of bus. The ones in Argentina were pretty similar too. Only they were in worse shape! LOL
